We evaluate patients and provide special lenses to improve medical symptoms.
The Blue Light Spectrum is further divided into specific frequencies:
We prescribe Special Lenses to Address Medical Symptoms
These filters are embedded within the contact lens.
Specific filters are particularly effective for individuals with:
Concussion and Brain Injury:
Blue Blocker – is particularly effective in helping individuals who have persistent problems after having a concussion. It addresses symptoms of extreme sensitivity to light, a symptom common to those who have had a brain injury or concussion. This filter helps individuals who suffer from even greater sensitivity to light than is addressed by the Migraine 55% and the Lavender filter.
Seizures and Glare issues:
Cobalt – is effective in helping to prevent seizures. It reduces glare and improves color perception and contours.
Headache, Migraine, and Sensitivity to Light:
Lavender, Migraine55, Red, and Teal filters are particularly effective in helping individuals who have Migraines and Headaches. They reduce eye strain, and sensitivity to light (photophobia), especially when working under fluorescent and outdoor lights.
Blue Blocker is effective for those who have even greater sensitivity to light than addressed above.
Light Sensitivity (Photophobia)
Sun Tac gives relief to individuals who have extreme light sensitivity. Each individual responds uniquely to particular filters. Factors taken into consideration include:
- What conditions trigger light sensitivity?
- How do you manage the sensitivity now?
- Do you find you have to wear sunglasses or visors indoors?
Glare:
Teal is effective in reducing glare and muting visual noise. It provides a sharper image and enhances vision in low-light conditions
Glare, Contrast, and Depth Perception
Red is effective in reducing glare, improving contrast, and enhancing depth perception. It is very effective in helping patients regain the confidence and ability to drive once again.
Red-Green Color Deficiency and Rod Monochromatism
Red is particularly effective in helping individuals who have color blindness (achromatopsia).
FAQ’s
What is the best filter tint to use?
Each individual is different. The doctor will evaluate and determine which filter works best for you. Iris color may appear different when wearing these lenses, especially for individuals who have lighter-colored irises. Lenses are customized to produce the medical benefit while simultaneously not interfering with appearance, for example, lenses can be customized to tint only the pupil (center).
How long do the lenses last and can I wear them every day?
These lenses are FDA approved for a year, however, we recommend replacing the lenses quarterly to ensure good eye health and reduce possible complications. These lenses are approved to be worn as a daily wear lens and not to be worn while sleeping or as extended wear.
What solutions are recommended for cleaning and storage?
BioTrue is the recommended multipurpose solution.
Lens Fresh or Miraflow are recommended for protein build-up removal.
Peroxide-based cleaning systems will fade lens color.
Why is it important to block blue light?
Blue light contributes to digital eye strain and may increase the risk of macular degeneration.
